Hibernating with Tea.

After my show it feels very nice to just curl up in bed with a cup of tea and finish some fun knitting and jewelry projects for friends & family for the holidays. A friend came by yesterday and dropped off some beautiful homemade Christmas cookies! And I have to say they are really getting me in the spirit. Its the little things in life that help you get by day to day. A hug, cup of tea, a new ball of yarn! Whatever it may be... After Christmas I anticipate finishing some watercolour and ink pieces for my portfolio. It will feel nice to embark on a different kind of creating from all the acrylic painting on wood I have had such fun exploring up until now. Time for some soft, more delicate pieces to mix it up a bit :) All is good & beautiful.

I Feel It All...

The show is finally up, and today i just sat back with tea in the gallery basking in the warming love of having such a beautiful and wonderful opportunity, I am so grateful and blessed to have so many supports in my life...
  For the love of Encaustic!

Daily Om, I found this passage so inspiring...
A Magical Mind

...Wish...
When we wish for something our consciousness opens to receiving it like a flower unfolding its petals to receive a bee.

From blowing dandelion seeds into the air to throwing a penny into a fountain, we have all felt inspired to make a wish, to whisper our secret desires into the ears of the universe and wait for signs that we have been heard. Some wishes come true while others remain ethereal visions that either stay with us or fade like a star in the light of morning. Whether they come true or not, wishes are important missives, expressing our heart's desire as well as our intention to create something new in our lives. When we wish for something, our consciousness opens to receiving it, like a flower unfolding its petals to receive a bee.

There is something innocent and magical about making a wish, something that recalls the energy of childhood. Wishing is not about formulating a plan and following it step by step to attain a goal, which is the realm of adulthood. Wishing is more like a playful volley across the universe, an invitation to play. Waiting for the response is an integral part of the process. Wishing inspires an innocent opening to the possibility of magic as we wait to see if the invisible realm will bring our wish to life. This opening is a beautiful gesture in and of itself, regardless of the outcome. We place ourselves in a magical mind, and this mind is arguably as wonderful as the fulfillment of our wish itself.

In our straightforward, action-oriented society, we may tend to dismiss the power of this seemingly passive process, yet the power of a wish is well known, hence the cautionary phrase, "Be careful what you wish for." If you have given up wishing in favor of more adult pursuits, you might want to bring its magic back into your life. The next time you see the first star of the evening, or find yourself in front of a birthday cake covered in flaming candles, give yourself the gift of the magical realm that you knew so well as a child close your eyes, open your mind, and make your wish.

The day is thick and grey and I am inside searching for inspiration in books, photos, fibres and anything that sparks my creativity to paint. I have discovered the most lovely photo site titled weheartit.. The images are inspiring and hopeful, they make me dream of warm barefoot summer days and the eventual dream house and studio I want to manifest in my life. The photos are tender and wrap me in a warm embrace, I hope it will be enough to inspire something amazing on my wood panels... The afternoon is all about self love, painting and tea! Such lovely things we need to fit into our lifestyles. I have recently been culminating some starry magical ideas in my mind of using copic markers over top of the resin in my new paintings for a more contemporary flare.. I feel myself growing and changing as an artist. Sometimes I miss the detailed sensitivity my work used to possess, however this style I am developing is also beautiful in a different way and I suppose I will just ride the waves and see what happens.

All my love and creativity

Time in my sacred space

Conscious . Connect . Create

Fall is swirling around me and the beautiful colours are embracing me and inspiring my many creative projects... My exhibition grows near and I feel a sense of ease knowing all things surrounding the show will work out... painting is coming naturally and the brain babies I am culminating are surprising me immensely... They are bold in colour and sheen.. what attention seekers they will be! ...I am creating my art and holding a space for exploration, experimentation and feeling apposed to the prior desire to have a successful end "product" ...I believe with this new meditative journey through my art I am on the right path...

It feels so lovely to start off the day with sunshine... paint... and OF COURSE my new home-made Soy Matcha lattes! O what a treat they are! ~

I must say this summer so far has been so replenishing for me and relaxing.. I have really needed this time for myself and having the opportunity to just create and experiment with knitting, fibres, colour and fabrics in my jewelery and clothing has been so rewarding! ....I have felt somewhat melancholy as the summer is going by and I have not yet begun any more paintings since the Spring.. But I cannot let that discourage me, as I figure it is all a process. I think this time right now is about the "self" ...and just spending time in the Garden, the city and doing my daily hot yoga has been just lovely, It's gearing me up for an exciting fall ahead!! ...

Sitting Beautiful On The Wind

I painted this piece on the beach last summer in Kelowna B.C
I remember the sun on my face and the tender breeze playing with my hair.... The sky was clear and the mountains across the lake a hazy blue, sleeping...

...Getting ready for this upcoming Fairy Lake Show has been a test of patience and trust within myself and those around me- that everything will work out gracefully and as it should... The past few weeks have been trying for me, so many emotions coming up from so many areas of my life... I suppose the beauty in that is the inspiration I can channel into my painting... Right now I visualize this antique wardrobe in my mind filled with with all the days of my life over the past week, painting ideas, futures, plans, desires, hopes, dreams and burdens laid wrapped up tight in delicate cloth in the tiny drawers and cubbies of the wardrobe and my mind... I think the stone wrapping, candle burning, rain and lemongrass tea right now will help ease this love sickness in my heart... For the future is bright and beautiful and I cannot wait to embark on this new journey laid out before me... :)

a man stood ahead
near a new golden bed
he told me of a love not yet found
but merely waiting on the flower covered ground

playing in the studio tonight with candles a'glow, Iron & Wine and this wonderful new folk musician I stumbled upon, William Fitzsimmons....His melodies are haunting and I found my paintbrush tonight dancing along to the rhythm of his voice.... This small multimedia piece feels very nostalgic to me. It's gentle and tender like an old weathered photograph.

I find the process of playing with paint very important and beneficial to developing a relationship with the paintbrush.... Like anything it takes patience, care and love...
